Chameleon Template

Welcome to the Chameleon template guide for ekmPowershop.com

Here are a few basic guidelines on how to use this template.

Firstly the template is available in either a fixed width, or a fluid 100% width, meaning the site will stretch to the outsides of a viewer’s screen this option is probably more useful if you have lots of top level categories.

Once you have chosen your desired template width, you can now customise the template with your own colour scheme.

COLOURS

In the design and layout section of ekmPowershop.com there is a COLOURS section.

Colour_1 - This is your website’s background colour, most people leave this white, however you can customise this to your preferred colour.

Colour_2 - This is the colour of your top level categories, view cart / add to cart / search buttons and the colour of your product price.

Colour_3 – This is the heading colour of the left hand promotional and information boxes.

Colour_4 – This is the colour of your category page names / product page names (please note this is also the H1 tag on these pages.). These are black by default, however if you choose to alter the background colour of the website then you may need change these headings to an alternate colour.

Text Colour – literally all of the text on the site will default to the same colour. If you do alter the background colour of the website you will need to alter this.

LEFT COLUMN

The left hand promotional areas are pre-populated with sample material. It’s worth either designing/sourcing your own banners or getting the ekmWebDesign team to create some for you.

You will notice some social networking icons are here ready for you to use, if you hit the edit button on this area you can customise the “LINKS” to go to your own social networking address eg www.twitter.com/yourlinkhere. If you like, you can also delete everything in the promo box and use it for something completely different.

Please note this template also contains the ekm tags for NEWSLETTER and CUSTOMER LOG IN, if you have enabled these in your shop settings then you will see these elements appear in the left hand column underneath the promotional boxes.

MAIN PAGE

Main page image fader: You can alter these images as you wish. As the image fades into another, you can edit the particular image by hitting the ‘Edit’ button.

IMAGES

Category images are best using portrait images. Ideally around 250px wide by 350px high.

Product images are best being square around 600px x 600px.

PRODUCT/CATEGORY PAGES

The category and product pages for this template are self explanatory; you can customise each category/product’s description and image etc. On the product page you can also customise the related products header.
