Import Data (basic/advanced edit product import) - ekmPowershop

The Import/Export system is an advanced ekmPowershop feature. It allows you to easily Export large amounts of data out of your shop such as products and orders. The Import allows you to edit all aspects of your products and categories by uploading a formatted Import file.

To access the Import/Export system please log into your ekmPowershop account and navigate to features section. Look down the list until you see the import / export feature. If you do not see the option, then you may need to install that feature. Click here to see how.

In this guide we have 2 parts. Part 1 is how to edit a basic import file with only the basic attributes that ekmPowershop needs to import a file. Part 2 is an advanced guide to show you how to edit a complete popluated file.

The import file can be used to add products / edit products or delete products from your online shop.

In the first part of this guide I’m just going to show you how to edit a basic file to make ajustments to any of your products you have on your online shop.

The import file needs to have the following attributes to be sucussfully imported into your online store:

Action	CategoryPath
ID	Name
Price

The nice thing about editing your products is that once you have exported the file to your machine you already have the file in the set format and you only simply need to change the attributes.

Tip1: If you export a file from your shop and it has 100 products, but you only need to edit 20 of them. You don’t need to upload the whole 100 again. Simply delete the product lines you don’t want to edit, so you are simply left with a file for the information you do want to change.

Tip2: When you import a file ekmPowershop will automatically create a restore point before the file is imported so if anything goes wrong within the hour you can resore your shop to before the file was imported.
